What actually happened in IPL Players Retention Event

If there is any true enemy of the soap operas in Indian television, it is undoubtedly cricket. And if it is something as exciting, entertaining and nail biting as the IPL matches, there is no doubt about it having a killer impact on the soap operas.

VIVO IPL 2018 Auction event organized by BCCI was a huge event with almost every player going under the auction hammer and two suspended team – Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) coming back. Before the auction takes place on January 27-28, all eight franchise are, however, have to disclose the name of a maximum three players they want to retain.

Now you can see MS Dhoni will be back in the yellow colours of Chennai Super Kings when the IPL XI begins in April.

RCB and Mumbai Indians retained their captains Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma respectively. Rajasthan Royals retained Australia captain Steve Smith while Sunrisers Hyderabad retained David Warner, who has led them superbly in the last two seasons.

There were two surprises comes from two teams one is RCB who retained Sarfaraz Khan who is injured in previous season and another one comes from the Shah Rukh Khan owned KKR too sprung a surprise when they chose not to retain skipper Gautam Gambhir under whom they won two IPL titles.

KKR opted to retain Sunil Narine & Andre Russell. Although Mumbai Indians retained Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya and Seamer Bumrah.

From Delhi Daredevils they retain Chris Morris, Rishabh Pant & Shreyas Iyer.

Suresh Raina who is out of form retained by CSK. There were slight changes in the team’s coaching line as Jhonty Rhodes who quits MI fielding coach. Ricky Ponting become the head coach of DD as Rahul Dravid steps down.
