After CBFC ( Central Board of Film Certification) decided to pass ‘Padmavati’ with ‘UA’ certification but on a condition of certain modifications and change in film’s title.
But, now again the Karni Sena demanded for a complete ban on the film. Despite a series of modifications being made in the controversial film Padmavati including its renaming the title as Padmavat, the Karni Sena, on friday again raised a demand.
The observer of Karni Sena, Lokendra Singh Kalvi, said to the media that, the filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali should forget dreaming about th film’s release as they will not allow the movie to get release. All efforts of Bhansali and CBFC shall go down the drain as the screening of Padmavati will not allowed anywhere in India or abroad.
“We are still adamant on our demand. Let there be a complete ban on the release of Padmavati”, he added. Kalvi also demanded for the complete ban on ‘Ghoomar’ song. ” We don’t want any changes in the said song, however , we demand a complete ban on the same,” he said.He also questioned the ‘authenticity’ of the panel formed by the CBFC to review the film.
Not all of them were ‘historians’, hence, their suggestions hardly make a difference, he said, adding that the CBFC proposed to bring in nine historians in the panel but ended calling out three historians “which speaks volumes on their seriousness to justify our demands”.
The Karni Sena even criticized the information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani and censor board chief Prasoon Joshi for allowing its release with ‘UA’ certification. The magnum opus Padmavati was certified in a meeting in the presence of Joshi and a special panel comprising Arvind Singh from Udaipur, historian Chandramani Singh and Professor K.K. Singh of Jaipur University.
After watching the movie, Arvind Singh and K.K. Singh said this film will ignite protests, said Gogamedi. Despite all of that, Prasoon Joshi has given the ‘UA’ certificate.
“If CBFC wanted to take a decision on their own so why they are invited people from our community? We will soon protests against the movie and will burn effigies of Smriti Irani and Prasoon Joshi”.
