It was one of the best and royal battles in finals played of both singles of National Badminton Championship. Saina Nehwal and HS Pranoy scripted their wins defying their odds over PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth respectively and won their respective titles in Senior National Badminton Championship.
With a brilliant show of attitude and controlled aggression, Pranoy defeated Srikanth with 21-15, 16-21, 21-7 in game which was played for 52 minutes to win his maiden national title. In a breath taking contest between the national partners, Pranoy was completely in different mood and ensured that he was in complete momentum by hitting dribbles and smashes all around. Srikant who was on career-high of winning 4 titles of Badminton Series was fully wondered with Pranoy coming up with his stunning back-handlers.
In the second final match played between the women, Saina Nehwal completely came up with aggression against the Olympic medallist PV Sindhu. If body language was one of the reasons for Saina’s win, then tense face of Sindhu and drops said it all.
The most impressive thing about Saina Nehwal was that she was able to recover from unforced errors and did not give out easy points. This was the thing which compounded Sindhu and took away from win who was going better in the nets.
R Satwik Sai Raj made it remarkable by winning doubles along with Ashwinni Ponappa in mixed doubles, further Ponappa also clinched women’s doubles title along with N.Sikki Reddy.
