KOLKATA: CID officers, who questioned BJP Rajya Sabha MP Roopa Ganguly in the Jalpaiguri child-trafficking case on Saturday, claimed they were “far from being satisfied” with her replies. Sources indicated she might be summoned again. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had unearthed a child trafficking racket earlier this year under which babies and children were allegedly sold, some to foreigners, through illegal adoption deals. “We will question her about her links to Chowdhury and also we need answers to a few more questions,” the officer said. The state CID had also summoned BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and two other leaders for questioning in the same case.
We might have to interrogate her again,” said ADG (CID) Rajesh Kumar after his team -comprising five personnel, including lady officers -questioned Ganguly for more than two hours, between 11.15am and 1.30pm, at the MP’s residence.
After the interrogators left, Ganguly reiterated that she believed that Chowdhury -considered her close aide -was not involved in the case. “I firmly believe that the girl can’t be involved in something so nasty. Yet, I want the law to take its own course,” she said, citing it as a case of political vendett
