Barcelona will sign Brazil International midfielder Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool on a five-and-a-half year contract, the two clubs said on Saturday.
British media reported that the Spanish club will pay about 142 million pounds ($193 million) for Coutinho, making it the third most expensive transfer in soccer history.
Although the player will sign a contract for the rest of the season and five more and will have a release clause of 400 million euros.
And Yes Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed the deal with the La Liga giants.
Last Year Paris St. Germain paid Barcelona 222 million euros for Brazilian forward Neymar in August and the French club will pay Monaco 180 million euros to sign Kylian Mbappe when he completes a loan spell this season.
Coutinho had long been a target for the La Liga giants, who were rebuffed several times in their attempts to sign him back in July and August.
Jurgen Klopp said that Philippe Coutinho made it known to everyone, including his team-mates, that he wished to leave Liverpool to join Barcelona, making it impossible to keep him at Anfield any longer.
He also added, “Coutinho’s determination to join Barcelona meant the Reds’ bid to keep him was always doomed to fail”.
Well Barca have a six-point lead at the top of the standings with a game in hand against Levante on Sunday.
Although Coutinho will be unable to play for Barca in the Champions League this season after taking part in the competition for Liverpool but he will boost their bid for a 25th La Liga title.
While today Real Madrid shocked everyone after giving a proposal of 177 million euros to the Liverpool Midfielder. However, Coutinho rejected the move with Barcelona the only club that he wanted to join.
